The sites featured on FreeSharing.org are all locally owned, grassroots groups, working to help their neighbors and the environment by keeping usable items out of the landfill by passing them along to people who can use them.

The Directory has links to over 900 locally managed groups serving over 400,000 members in the USA, Canada and around the world. If there is no group in your area, please consider starting one.

So if you have an outdated TV, a garage you are cleaning out, or even a bunch of empty coffee cans, find your local group and pass on those items instead of tossing them in the dump.

The principle is very similar to FreeSharing and members can offer items such as excess items from government programs (infant formula, milk, etc), seeds, plants, fruit before it rots on the tree, excess veggies from the garden, canned goods from their hurricane survival stock, and so on.
